ANNOUNCEMENTS (on back):

Pizza Party!!! Tonight in the PCMI tent at 6:00 p.m.  $1.00 per slice.  Bring your own beverage of choice!

T-shirts and sweatshirts to commemorate this year’s PCMI will be on sale soon!  Keep watching the bulletin board for an update.  The cost will be $10.00 per t-shirt and $20.00 per sweatshirt (hooded).

Name badge = meal ticket.  Name badges should be worn at all times and will be checked at meals.   Participants who do not have their name badges may be asked to go back to their rooms and get them.  We very much appreciate your cooperation.

Reminder: the server in the computer lab must not be tampered with or turned off.   Please do not touch the server for any reason.  On Monday night, the server was turned off by an unknown person.  If this happens again, the computer lab will have to be inaccessible at night and participants will be allowed in the lab only when there is a technical support person on duty (8 a.m.-8 p.m  weekdays only).  Our current policy is to have the lab accessible at all hours, and we would like to continue that.  If you are in the lab after hours, we ask that you be responsible for keeping the door closed and locked at all times, and do not admit anyone who is not a PCMI participant.

Cross Program Activities at 3:15 PM (Grand Theater):

Today: PCMI’s Mathematics Education Research Program initiated a collaborative project last year on the K-12 teaching and learning of Statistics and Probability.  The group will report on current research on statistical reasoning, K-12, with commentary by a statistician and an education researcher.

Monday: Geometry of Area vs. Geometry of Length; Roger Howe, Yale University

Departure Information: Please look on the bulletin board for your shuttle departure reservation and initial in the place indicated on the sheet.  Also, please fill out an exit survey and leave it in the designated box.  Thank you!

Exit surveys are now available on the table in the foyer. The exit survey is an important tool in our planning for next year – we very much appreciate your taking the time to complete the survey.  If you are leaving, please remember to complete a survey and return it to the designated box in the foyer.  Thank you!

Breakfast is available in the PCMI tent from 7:00-8:30 a.m.  A variety of cereals, baked goods, yogurt, juices, coffee and tea will be served.  The tent will be heated on cold mornings, however sweaters or light jackets may still be needed.

Lunch will be in the PCMI tent from 12:00-1:15.  Although lunch is laid out in a buffet-style, we regret that funding concerns do not allow us to serve an “all-you-can-eat” meal.  Additional portions may be obtained after 1:00, when all participants have had the chance to go through the line once.

Refreshments: Coffee and tea are available at all times in the foyer outside the Grand Theater.  Cookies will be served daily from 4:15-4:30 p.m. in the same location.

The PCMI Office is located on the third floor of building 4 at the Prospector Square Lodging and Conference Center.  The code for entry into the building is “*2436”  (the asterisk is necessary, otherwise the code is invalid).  Office hours are 8:00a.m.-12:00 noon and 12:45p.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday; and 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
