One of the most fun events in Park City is the annual town-wide July 4th Celebration.
Starting off with a breakfast in City Park, moving on to the 4th of July Parade down Main Street, continuing with sports matches in City Park and ending with the grand finale evening of amazing fireworks at the Park City Mountain Resort - July 4th is a day of festivities throughout Park City!
Each year PCMI creates a mathematical entry to complement the whimsy of Park City’s 4th of July parade. We’ll be hard at work almost as soon as you arrive in Park City — the first planning meeting for PCMI’s parade entry is Sunday, June 30, at 7:45 p.m. in the Conference Center (following the Opening Socials). After that, every spare minute of the next three days will be spent constructing and practicing PCMI’s presentation. The culmination of all that creativity and hard work is getting to be part of the fun on Main Street in the Park City sunshine, while thousands (!) of spectators cheer wildly for “the Math Group,” as we are known locally.
PCMI has won many prizes over the years for exceptional creativity (and sometimes simply for confusing
the judges!). Celebrities who summer in Park City know who we are, and the entire town will be expecting another great PCMI entry in 2013! Let’s go!!
Paul Hildebrandt, President and Founder of Zometools, has provided a potential model for construction of our July 4th Parade float:
We are entry #18 in this year's parade. Check in time will be at 9:15 am. The Theme is "Once Upon a 4th." Join in the fun at the parade planning meeting on Sunday, June 30, at 7:45 pm in the Conference Center!
